Pete this is kinda what I took away from what you discussed about Coverage, Shapefiles and Geodatabases in class. I think of shapefiles like a golf course with points, lines and polygons representing the course, hole and river running Thu. I know that you said they need to have other .shx and .dbf extension to help be supportive of each one. Also you told us it was a popular geospatial data format. The coverage stuff threw me for a loop the only conclusion I had there was the mapping of one aspect of data in space, I hope you said that cause I remember someone saying it. I think of Aeriel coverage like a digital elevation model. The spatially aware data is linked to each other. Geodatabase is a databased that is used to store, manipulate and compute actions in the geographical data. Did I get that one right? (Notes) Point, line and polygons are the data types used. It uses this to represent a physical location on the Earth. See ya in morning

Pete I have come to moms to work on GIS and of course my liense has expired on the borrowed book. I will see ya in morning and pray I make it thru final. How about me giving you my USB and you can see what I have done. Pete your a good teacher I have learned so much. Pete, I just wanted you to know Andrea helped me a lot on this Transylvania Project, she really had some good tips for me to remember where my stuff is. She even went as far to "hang out" til I was sure I had it posted on my blog. She has a little knack for not making you feel you "should have" known the material. Hope you had fun while we froze here. By the way I was very good at "plotting". See ya soon Tammy

Pete, Help

It's Wed. nite and I am at home trying to finish final project. Pete my computer is telling me when I open project that "This map document was saved using new version of ARC GIS". Help.
I will call or email tomorrow, is it to late to ask for extension?

Final Project

Pete I am looking over final project and I am beginning to believe I am UP Reed creek. I can't even locate the place where you download the data from the sources. Is it all in www.nconemap.com or am I to go to different places to get the info. I watched video and think I have handle on the determining % part, but getting the stuff to get started is throwing me. I looked at City of Asheville's homepage and got nowhere. I really want to do well and thought I should get started here. Dang Pete I want you to know I have put the hours in studying and feel LOST IN SPACE. Help. I will work tomorrow and hopefully talk with you soon. Pete, Dechant really thinks I should stick with this job skill, but I want to get it before I move on.

Homework Blues

Pete I am at home trying to figure out weather I can unzip these files with this OLD pc. I haven't given up, but it ain't looking good for home team. It says I must buy winzip to do this is that correct? Pete I got the part about zooming the layers and even the geoferencing part (align) but I think it is the file mgmt. part I suck at. I don't know where my stuff is at any given time. I have loaded the software, read the chpts and still coming up short on the work. I want to be able to send you a map of my work. Help. Before I get to behind. I will look at your office hours because I need hands on training, or at least you within the room to make sure I am doing it how it is designed to work.
