Homework Blues

Pete I am at home trying to figure out weather I can unzip these files with this OLD pc. I haven't given up, but it ain't looking good for home team. It says I must buy winzip to do this is that correct? Pete I got the part about zooming the layers and even the geoferencing part (align) but I think it is the file mgmt. part I suck at. I don't know where my stuff is at any given time. I have loaded the software, read the chpts and still coming up short on the work. I want to be able to send you a map of my work. Help. Before I get to behind. I will look at your office hours because I need hands on training, or at least you within the room to make sure I am doing it how it is designed to work. Thanks Tammy Back to fitting to display, control points and the way I feel which is warp tool.

Sept. 21st

Well test wasn't as bad as I thought. We covered Chpter 4 talking about Spatial Data Sources. Hard and digital sources from which maps are created. We also talked about the components that make up maps like data area, pane, frames, insets and mapscale. Feature maps, Choropleth maps, Dot Density maps and Isopleth maps were covered to tell us which map is used most and for what reason. Large scale (small area) and small scale (large area) were explanined in detail.
The three steps of data aquisition was discussed about identify, obtain and incorporating data. Data sets of eight nationwide data source were talked about. (DRG & DLG). Digital Elevation models was also covered.

Sept 14th class

First I did have a little difficulty with the test, was a awful lot of material to cover but I think I now have a handle on what's going on by all the studying I did. Thanks for the hands on time in class Pete, this is actually how I learn. Playing around seems to sink in better than a textbook. Hope as a class we did alright for you. Map projections seemed to stump me up. Thanks for all the help in class Friday, hopefully A-B Tech's fall semester seems to have slowed and now I can devote more time to my studies. Tammy

Sept 12th, 2007

First of all Pete, I CAN'T get this interlibrary loan software to do what it is suppose to. I really need some catch up time in class on Friday after test. There were questions last class I should have posted by now but I will throw at you any way. Map projections is confusing to me, like who decides which one to use? The defining of a shapefile's projection? And which one's would be good to use for different questions like the last one's on study guide? Entire US, Western NC, Entire world? Thanks for your patience hopefully the rest aren't as confused as me. I think the hands on is where I need things beat in my head better. Tammy
